沖縄県中部に位置する街。メインストリートであるゲート通りは週末の夜になると外国人や若者で血走っている。エクスタシー欲しさにはつらつとする外人や若い女性もそこかしこにいる。
そこからやや東に位置するのが、パークアベニュー商店街。
今は商店街とは呼ぶには烏滸がましいほどであるシャッター街ではあるが、かつては米軍やNASAのワッペンの製造をはじめとした店舗が立ち並び、商業に満ちた画期溢れる街だったらしい。
決して賑わいはなくても、人、物、木々、建物全てから不気味なエネルギーを感じずにいられなく、どうしようもない高揚感を覚える不思議な街。
そんな街を北海道出身の俺は、第三の故郷として選んだ。何故なら「刺激」があるからだ。
何もないはずの街に、無限大に溢れる希望とスリルがいつも僕に絡みついてくれる。
だからここで立つことを決めた。
The city is located in central Okinawa Prefecture.
The main street, Gate Street, is a bloodbath of foreigners and young people on weekend nights.
There are also foreigners and young women here and there who are eager for ecstasy.
A little to the east of there is the Park Avenue shopping street.
Although it is now a shuttered street, it used to be lined with stores that manufactured patches for the U.S. military and NASA, and it is said to have been a town full of commerce and full of picturesque scenes.
Even though it is not a bustling place, one cannot help but feel an eerie energy from all the people, things, trees, and buildings, and it is a mysterious town where one feels an irrepressible sense of elation.
As a native of Hokkaido, I chose such a town as my third hometown. I chose it as my third hometown because of its “stimulation.
In a city where there is nothing to be found, an infinite amount of hope and thrill always entwine with me.
That is why I decided to stand here.
